Writing a Sequel!

We (the Alice Campions) are looking forward to sharing a whole lot of new lessons we have learnt while collaboratively writing our second group novel – a sequel (as yet untitled) to The Painted Sky.

It’s been quite different second time round.

Some aspects were more efficient; our methodology and schedule for instance.

However, there were other challenges, particularly around writing a sequel. They are the same problems any author faces in that situation, not the least of which is getting the facts straight from the first book. Hopefully four brains piecing it all together puts us in a good position! It’s amazing what you forget and it is taking lots of checking and re-reading!

Alice Campion for this novel is: Jenny Crocker, Jane Richards, Jane St Vincent Welch and Denise Tart.

Group Fiction will be sharing our tips in a seminar at the NSW Writers’ Centre on May 26.

What others are saying

At first we couldn’t believe that The Painted Sky was written by five people - it reads seamlessly, and the characters and storylines are so vividly realised.”
